spiders eat other bugs...so they are actually helping you out....aside from the visual distraction I would let them be.

Fran they may not be spiders at all. They may be bag worms you need to identify that first. If they are bagworms the treatment now may be unsuccesful and not warranted. Call a tree person and get the info. I have been told that bagworms need to be treated before they are evident. You may need to wait for next year and treat before the season occurs.
