Therese and Marg, I can feel your pain. We went about 5 mos. in drought before we received rainfall.............and now, we've met our rainy season quota. Fortunately, we've not been in the 100's, and I've got to admit, it's really strange thinking of Fla. being cooler during the summer than most other continental states! Hope the heat breaks for you soon, followed by significant rainfall.

Becky, we are all used to having a few 100 plus days, but weeks on end is not usual for us.Generally a good hot day stirs up a thunderstorm, and we all hope for rainfall without hail. The storms we have had this summer, with one exception (and it only rained for 20 minutes) have brought damaging winds and lightening without any mositure.

Lori J.....yes the storms in the Midwest had so far been very strong this year. I am afraid that when the rains come we will also see the dark side of Mother Nature. As we all know, when it stays this hot then the storms come, it usually means hail, wind, and tornadoes. I can handle strong wind, lightening (during the storms), and heavy rain, but tornadoes do make me nervous. But so goes nature..we cannot have the much needed rain without the chances of rough weather. I would just like to ...»
have 3-4 days of soft ground-soaking rain and end this summer with cooler temps.

I see we still have a 40% chance of thunderstorms predicted for tomorrow. I won't believe it until I see it since the last two weeks those predictions came on gone without a drop of rain.

I see it's changed to 30% chance of rain tomorrow and 40% on Thursday. With temps getting lower as the week progresses. Still a hundred tomorrow, but 93 on Thursday and only 88 predicted for Friday and Saturday. I think I better get out my sweaters, ya think?

Lori, we've been having severe thunderstorms too. Limbs down, flooding, microbursts, lightning and last time, 55 mph ground wind. However, after being through the drought, we'll take whatever we can get................except a hurricane.

Becky H .... I lived in Mississippi when hurricane Ivan came through & my son and his little family went through Katrina in Pass Christian, MS. I would not wish a hurricane on my worst enemy... I have not heard of any hurricanes this year and am so glad for all of my southern neighbors that we haven't had any. Like you, we need rain, rain, rain..without all the extras!....@ Becky in Blair, NE.....don't forget the extra pair of socks...brrrr

Oh yes! I have a couple really thick pair that should work just fine. It's already 95.2 today so no need for socks yet.

Don't get too excited. We got all that with loads of wind and a streak of lighting sideways across the whole sky and just a few drops of rain. Then clear skies again.

I sure hope so Becky. It was so disappointing!

WAIT! I think I hear thunder and know I just saw lightening in the distance. Maybe we have yet another chance at rain. I sure hope I'm not hearing and seeing things....

I sure hope so.There's still a chance (30%) of rain until the early morning hours and again all day Saturday. The corn crops around here (we are surrounded by them and bean fields) look so sad it just breaks my heart of what this will cost the farmers. The beans still look quite hearty though.

No rain here again, but highs in the lower nineties seemed downright temperate.

My hubby and I were trying to remember the last time we had rain and we think it was the night of our daughter's wedding rehearsal. The night we were to have a fireworks display at our home. Everyone still came out in hopes the rain would stop, but it didn't. That was June 14th.
