Backyard transformation on a budget

Every nice backyard didn't start with a huge budget. This transformation was accomplished by tackling one project at a time over the course of 3 years. By pampering the soil you can encourage the tiniest of plantings and the sparsest of grass to fill in while the bigger projects such as a new deck and a DIY fancy gate are eventually built. The end results are a lush "looks like it's always been there" escape.

Your place is why it's ok to do a little each year as budgets, both time & money, allow. Wonderful transformation.

I love this! Very beautiful and a great reward for years of work. I was moved by the remark about "pampering the soil". I re-learned this lesson this year when part of my lawn was looking scraggly. My lawn care service provider suggested that we needed more lime in a certain area. I scattered a few pounds of lime around and now that part of the lawn is lush too!

Wow Jeanette S., this very thing happened to us this year too! It was the first time we've ever needed to add something like that to the soil, but the sod responded beautifully afterwards.
