Ikea Cabinet Turned Craft Center

I desperately needed a place to store my crafting supplies and since I was no longer using the Ikea computer cabinet to house my computer, it made sense to transform it into a crafting center. More details on the transformation are on my blog. #Bestof2012

Great idea for a craft center, especially for a small place. You can close it up when not crafting and no worries about cleaning up if you're in the midst of a project when company surprises you.

like the idea, but I would have put a pegboard, chalkboard and/or pin-up board on the doors for my craft area.

Yes, I agree with Linda...a pegboard would be better to hang tools, etc that are always needed:)

Now that I have a room to turn into a craft room thinking of using the closet in there for that purpose, just a matter of designing it :(

Is this computer station still available at Ikea?

I would need ten of these cabinets. But I did locate all my scrapbooking supplies in one huge armor.

Very nice organization. LOL, I wish I could be that organized. My problem is that it would look very nice ...until I started crafting, then it would be a disaster area

I really like this. I would add a yardstick to the slide out for measuring, and some pegs for thread and tools. Also some peg board inside the doors for notes, material swatches, etc.

I'm lovin' everyone's suggestions! Especially the pegboard idea and adding a measuring stick to the slide out piece. Carole N, I don't know if Ikea still sells this, but it was super easy to put together (I didn't even have to ask the hubby to help). Probably any computer cabinet could work though.

Wouldn't work for me, as I have a whole room full of stuff. Wish this was all of the room I needed!!

Suggestion: screw jar lids to the bottom of the shelf and then screw the jars on...great storage for small screws, tools, etc.

I love this idea...have you priced the "crafting" boxes out there? Looks like it would work for my mosaics too! I would have to add a mosaic design onto the glass doors though...lol. Great Job!

I just wish I had a room just for crafting. Don't have an extra room so my craft stuff is here, there and everywhere! Like the way this was done though! Is really neat!
