Using old satellite dishes for planting?

I was just rereading the post using the old bird bath for succulents..wondering if anyone here has made a planter out of old satelite dishes? Or done anything else clever with satellite dishes?

Yeah...hmm, not so sure that would go so well here in mhome court, it is not upscale by any means. It used to be but starting several owners back, started losing its look. However I have seen pictures of folks who have painted things like daisies or floweers on their dishes, , makes it look like one big daisy, or using them for bird baths! Ours is on the roof, being unused, and it is small. Maybe Kevin can do something very handy way out there in the wide open spaces? And my painting is not good, I still make stick people!!

You could always take it down, and use it to pan for gold. I am sure Kevin has some rivers in his neck of the woods that just may have some of that stuff still in it.

I have seen an old satellite dish turned upside down and used to create a dome ceiling over a master bedroom. It was awesome looking!

depending on the size, my friend had one of the really big ones that are metal. He used 1/2 for an awning in the back yard and 1/4th for another corner spot to shade the plants in the garden. Turned out great and wasn't hard to take apart. I love the idea of a bird bath for the small ones.

Here are some links to uses of old satellite dishes, not the ones I was looking for , but a poster on hgtv message board sent them. At least some ideas:

Hi. Don't know if you read and viewed ideas here, but a quick google produced several ideas. I love gazebos so this one appealed to me:

The above link and others were found on this pg. so do check them out.

BTW, this link shows some creative artsy ways to diguise them:

We use one over our fire pit. The legs are just the right size to put garden globes on also.

Wow, that is a big one! I was looking for the little ones people have painted on. This looks like a good use for the big ones. Even as a shelter, how many chairs will fit under one? What do you mean about the legs? Do you have garden globes?

I was a post quite awhile back where they used a large dish as a roof over a gazebo. Looked great
