I am still having difficulty in finding a runner for the hallway to help with covering the vinyl planking we just put down. Do you think putting down stick on carpet tiles would work?

If the runners you find attractive are a bit thin you may be able to find some under rug padding.

I would fee better about something like the link above...this could be lightly secured to the new vinyl with some double sided carpet tape to prevents slippage or movement.
I have checked out the tape to finish unbound carpet,, about 5 bucks for just maybe 3 feet. hmmm
