Good questions.... The base answer has to do with materials used. In this project, I used a 100% solids clear epoxy with standard hardener. Into this I broadcast the chips. Had I used a pigmented epoxy, the floor would be brighter and more brown. Why? Because the voids between chips show a dark background with a clear base coat here. Had I used, say a mocha pigmented base, it would add lightness.... Anyway... Overnight the materials hardened. I then swept and scraped the surface

lightly to remove high spots and excess materials. After a quick blow of the surface, another coat of clear 100% solids epoxy were added to lock in the chips. In total, the floor is about 20+ mil thick, has a nice textured surface and will outlast this home.... Oh... I'd stay off of it for 3-5 days depending on ambient temperatures. The warmer the temps, the quicker the initial cure. Personally, the longer you stay off of it, the longer it will look fantastic long term... THX for the thumbs up!
you can have these floor with OR without chips,,, personally i like quartz for a harder surface but vinyl's fine & less expensive. i'll post some pics later on for a store we just finished in marietta - clear epoxy for steel floors !
Folks could take that for granite. This is why I don't do garage floors anymore. It takes a whole lifetime just to learn how to do one thing, and there are so many good floor options today. Almost every floor you see that is done by house painters, peels, And it's a whole lot more work to get it off than it was to put it down.
Thanks for the in-depth answer, I appreciate the time. Approximately how much should a two car garage, with minimal prep/cracks needed cost? For one like the one you posted. Rough ballpark or a range is fine, I just have never even heard of what these floors run....Thanks!
@ Peace - Yes, its really stunning and I'm sure the homeowned is brimming with pride over these comments. We can even make special blends of colors as one of the biggest color chip dist. is in Roswell. I have had several clients go and make custom blends for their homes.

floor flakes, these average $5.25 per square foot for 2-3 car garages. REMEMBER: these projects come down to 3 aspects. One - Prep, Two - Type of coating materials, Three - Amount of materials applied. We do not skimp in ANY of these areas. We should be charging more.
@ LeeAnn - Thanks for the BIG thumbs up - Please share with your clients! We can always use the wurk.... ;-)
@ Peace - Really small garages only pay to keep labor alive, there is not much margin when you do deep prep, install 2 thick coats of 100% solids epoxy, 10-12lbs/100 sf of floor chips and make 3 trips to ensure it all goes well.....
@ Shane - Yup, what more of my clients enjoy doing is actually creating their own blends to match their color schemes. I'm one of the only pros in Atlanta with this service.

That's cool, I'll make the short trip up north to Oceanside for the classes! I think Monti should give us classes too! She does some amazing work as well!
Beside the fact that Monti is a wonderful artist, she is a wonderful person to know, she is genuine and very sincere...I had the pleasure of meeting and visiting with her at the Spring Home Show in Del Mar, CA earlier this year. I love to see her latest creations...Lokk for them, she posts pretty regularly here.
That full flake is AWESOME...I wish I had a Garage so I could this.
