DIY Fabric Tape Pumpkins

It all started when I was attempting to organize my craft room. I quickly became distracted {as I often do when trying to get organized} by my collection of fabric tape, and specifically a brown plaid style that I previously ignored.
The pattern had come in a 3 pack from Michael’s a while ago, but I originally bought the pack for another pattern, but now the brown plaid was calling my name.

So I decided to use some to decorate a few DIY pumpkins. The color and pattern are so perfect for Fall, don’t you think? By the way, you can also make your own fabric tape with fabric scraps and double sided tape.

I made a mason jar lid pumpkin with fabric tape and some fishing line. I wound up using 18 lids for my pumpkin.

To make the mason jar lid pumpkin I first added some fabric tape around the edge of the lid.

I then threaded a piece of fishing line through the lids {making sure they were all going the same direction} and tied a tight knot.

I then spaced the lids out and placed a stick in the center. Here is my finished mason jar lid pumpkin.

I then took a plain faux pumpkin I had picked up from Walmart for less than $1 and started adding strips of fabric tape to it as well.

Here you can see some of the fabric tape being added to the faux pumpkin.

Here is the fabric tape pumpkin all finished. I love how the easy this was and that the fabric sort of appears to be stitched on.

I had also fabric taped a small ceramic elephant knick knack. Isn't it adorable?

In the end I used 3 rolls of fabric tape for 2 pumpkins, my elephant and a pencil.

I was excited to make this. I used 18 large rings but I can't get them to stand up and stay put like the picture shows?? Any idea on how to do this?
