Any idea what this metal base is from?

It was found at a thrift shop and painted dark green. Has a hole at the top. I put a bolt and wing nut to hold a round wood top with metal trim.

How big is it? It looks like a vanity mirror stand.

It's about 7 inches high. Could be a vanity mirror. It looks masculine.

The more important question is "what are you using it for?"

Lol, today I'm using it as a pedestal display piece. I added a wood circle with metal edging. There's the link http://homastyle.com/wp/2012/07/24/cloche-an...

    Tomorrow who knows???

@ Carroll A thank you. Love the name Coos Bay! Is it as pretty as it sounds?

Thank you. It is very pretty here. Right on the ocean and compared to the rest of the country it is a beautiful sunny day with a high of 65 today.

@ Carroll A, we spent 5 awesome years in Pismo Beach, CA. I miss the 65 degree days and the marine layer!

Perhaps a vintage bubble gum or candy machine.

see if there is a signature anywhere on it, it could be a lamp base.

I just looked and there is not a signature in sight. A lamp base is a good idea. The wiring would have to come from the top because the base has no openings or holes for wires.
