Painting Old Chairs with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint {Newbie} :)

I posted a three-part series {so far!} about the joy and challenges of using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. So far, I've painted a huge table and 8 chairs {2 coats each} and I haven't even finished a quart yet. http://sixteenfourteen.weebly.com/2/post/201...

I don't know if it was the paint or the painter, but this turned out very nicely. What finish was on the chairs before painting?

Hi Becky! It was a dark wood {mahogany?} with a polyurethane finish.

Great job! No brush marks, looks like a professional painted these! That Annie Sloan chalk paint must be a miracle! Has anyone used it on formica (like a glass top table base)? I was thinking about spray painting it with a liminate paint...???

Thanks Jeannette! I think it may work on formica, as long as you're OK with the "patina" look. I also found out that you can use extra fine sandpaper to take out the brush marks {220}. I tried it on the table yesterday, but I got a little carried away and sanded off too much paint. It's a trial and error process for sure! :-)

Thank you so much for this post. I am just starting to paint several pieces of bedroom furniture and you have given me hope. Your chairs are beautiful!
