flowering weed?

I dug this up along the side of the road in Sparta, Ga. where it continues to strive at another Sparta location. it is a prolific ground cover...and i am happy about that, even if it turns out to be a weed! i have 1/2 an acre to cover, and the deer do not seem to bother it. i have checked online and cannot find a photo of this...anyone know what this is? thank you!

I looked up wild phlox, and it doesn't appear to be that, although close! Seems to be in the mint family, but not catmint either. I'd crush a leaf, and if it smells like mint, there ya go!

It does look like mint of some variety. It will grow wild and get out of hand. Marianne is right, crush a leaf to see. Let us know what it smells like!

We have it in our backyard in Mississippi, my husband kept trying to destroy it as a weed, so I dug it up and put it in a container... lol I found it on this website (but now can't remember the name): www.eattheweeds.com

Hee, hee! I have to laugh because it seems some pesty "weeds" turn out to be so pretty and healthy looking while our expensive "plants" struggle! Oh well.

That does not look like a mint flower to me. But the leaf test is a good one.

Wild Verbena? It looks kind of like what we have on the road sides here in LA.
