The beginning of a couple of ponds and a dry rock bed!

I know this won't look like much but I like to post as we go...the past had pictures of the empty, washed away yard. Then pictures of area's that have had weeds removed, plants thriving...though they still need color, just waiting for September. Now the pictures of the digger leaving us the START to a dry rock bed, to control the water that washes our yard away...and the 2 small goldfish ponds. I can't wait to show you the finished project...what am I saying? I can't wait to see that myself, haha!

Thanks Susan! I am bursting with love for North Carolina as a place to live. I can't wait to see this completed, even though I know that will lead us to another project! When I was young this stuff was work, now it is this overly wonderful opportunity to create!

What a wonderful piece of property! It's going to be beautiful Wendy...and by all means take us along for the ride. Love the pics that keep us updated.

Thank you Dee! I feel like I should be waiting until it is done, but just the act of doing one project and recording it here, has kept me inspired to keep going!

Can't wait to see the rest of the stages. Looks like it's going to be a killer stream and pond!

Thanks Becky! The stream down the side is actually a dry rock bed and runs the entire length of our yard...when it rains, it POURS...we literally get a waterfall that washes away the land and makes a mess of the center of our yard. Hoping the rock bed will guide it where we want. The waterfall we are creating to help sort of mask the mountain designed one is just at the top of the smaller pond, dropping a foot down into it and then almost a foot down into the bigger one. It should make for a nice bit of sound, I hope!

Have you already figured out your gallonage and head so you can select the correct pump?

Thanks to all of you that commented. I'm sorry it took so long to respond. Work always gets in the way of my fun, hehe. My husband will know the gallon size and has the pumps purchased. I actually don't know. I'll tell you sometime next week for sure though. Just finished extending the deck out to the edges of the pergola so lining the dry rock bed and starting the ponds next.
