Rustic Pumpkins and a Little Monster

I love it when I can save money on home decor, especially when it comes to seasonal decorating. I mean, holidays go by fast, so I hate spending a lot on things that I'll only have out for a month or so! I made these rustic wood pumpins and little Frankenstein out of a 2 X 4, some paint and some hardware, and they didn't cost me a dime! or treat ortreat
My husband and I both love DIY projects, so we always have wood around. I asked him to cut up a 2 X 4 for me, and he very kindly obliged. He also sanded the pieces -- wasn't that sweet?! I was originally goin to make four pumpkins, but see that big gash on one of the blocks?
It reminded me of a scar. So, by flipping it over and painting over the orange, Frankie was born!
I even added two bolts to his head! I distressed the pumpins and added some industrial-style stems for a very rustic look. Here's how the pumpkin gang looks together.
The nails look rusty, but they're not. You can read more about the entire process on my blog. And of course, they aren't meant to be used as toys. They just look nice with all of the rustic decor I have in my house. :)
