House colors...help!

I am planning on painting my house. I have red brick on the lower half of the front, so this would be just the facing on the front. I also have red brick steps and insets on walkway and driveway. I have been planning on painting it gray with a creamy white trim. I just don't know how dark of a gray to choose. I have lots of trees during the summer and spring that add green, but I don't want it to look to sombre in the winter. The picture is from 2004 (the last time it was painted) and so the walks are redone and the gardens are put in, mostly purple, lilacs and bright yellows) and we have black wrought iron railing on the porch. Thoughts?

Whatever you do, I think you should paint the brick the same color as the house, and make the garage door a different color.

I have been thinking of doing that. Just not sure how expensive covering brick would be. But I agree. A couple of homes in the area have done that and it looks fabulous.

Your roof looks light grey. I might do black shutters and garage door if you have black railings. and do a creamy taupe on the wood.

Painting the brick would not be any more than painting anything. You could also "whitewash" the brick and do a nice light color for the top, maybe "Taupe" and the same taupe on the garage door. It would make the house look bigger.

Thank you. All your suggestions have been helpful in making my decision. When I talked about cost, I meant covering more area, plus brick soaks up paint.

If you paint the brick same as the siding. I would paint the garage door the same color. The front door should be another color to stand out. That would make the garage door blend in. You want your front door to pop, not the garage door. Just my opinion.

I would start by trimming the trees, it would open it up.
