A sofa/hall table made from re-cycled wood

I have a garage full of wood mostly re-cycled from stuff people and friends give me to what ever my husband brings me home from his work to also stuff that I find on the side of the road left out for the trash man... Yes I know.. I'm one of those gals that can't pass up free wood left on the side of the road LOL! and it just keeps piling up and piling up so I thought that I would start using some of it and I decided to make a Sofa/Hall table.... I saw a picture of one that I liked in My World of Products catalog and wanted to make one like it so here is what i did..

I know it's hard with little kids. Too many interruptions and you just want to keep on working. When my kids were school age, I had a day all planned. They would be in school and I was going to spend the day in the garage, working on projects. Had nothing else going on that day. About 9:30 the phone rang. My son. "Mom, the lights are out at the school so the school wants all the parents to come pick us up, we get a free day!" Of course, when I picked him up, he and his buds had big ...»
plans now that THEY had a free day. "Can you take us here, can we pick up Brandon, can they all come over to our house!" But those days went by fast, though it didn't so at the time. Your daughters will grow up remembering that mom worked on projects that not a lot of women knew how to do at the time and they will know how creative you are and cherish the things you've made.

Wonderful project and fantastic job. I do not do woodwork but appreciate it very much. I like both tables, but I have to admit yours is much more useful. Are you going to hang your pots underneath with lids on shelf?

WOW How did I miss this. I was member then! This is absolutely amazing Tania. I'm going to have to check out your blog posting later, but right now I need to get busy before my hubby gets home. I've been on the computer more than I have been sorting my fabrics. I was hoping to be done today, but HT is just too much fun!

Becky I like to make things out of peoples discarded treasures Like transforming an old blue dresser into a Tv Cabinet and restoring old cabinets back to beauty like the other one in my post about the cabinet left for 50 years in a chicken coop ... If you go to my profile page you will see some of the stuff I have done..;) I have made tons of stuff out of scrap wood... I never throw wood away I just recycle it... I am trying to figure out a way that i can post all the stuff I have made ...»
onto my Blog page, so when I do you can see all the goodies I have done...

Oh Becky I forgot to mention that right now I'm in the process of finishing up three 6ftx4ft cabinets for the senior citizen club up town... They rent their hall out over weekends and all of their stuff is getting broken by the kids rough housing them..;( it's really sad so... I got together with The Senior Life Coordinator @ The Hospital where my Hubby works and I designed 3 cabinets to fit their needs so they can lock up their stuff over the weekends.... I'm Hunting High and low to keep ...»
the cost way down and I am not charging very much to do it... cause it is for a very good cause..:) Suzey who is the SLC @ the Hospital had a bake sale and made enough money to buy them a 32" flat screen Tv To go in one of the Cabinets that I designed.. When They are finished I post them so you can see what I have been up too..;)♥

I have looked at your profile page which is were I realized who you were. I remembered seeing them but didn't put them together with you. Makes me really want to get things caught up around here to I can start working on refinishing or remaking furniture. I've only personally made one piece from scratch and that was a cubby bench for a client. Right now I'm not taking on clients (I'm also a seamstress) because I have way too many things to do around home and for my family. Family always ...»
    comes first.

It sure is sad that the seniors things were getting destroyed by kids that rent their room on the weekends. I'm looking forward to seeing what you'll be making for them. Nice that you're giving them a good rate too. I don't have set rates so I can do things like that too. I've even sewn things for the local food bank for free. Nothing very time consuming and I had the fabric in my stash.

I grew up wanting to be a fashion designer, but I never learned flat pattern. My niece has taken up where I left off and is hoping to find a job as a costume designer. She's amazingly talented. Sewing was big in my family so it's so nice to see that one of this next generation has taken to it.

I'm afraid the links you have on your blog failed. I got this Photobucket message.... "The action you were trying preform failed". :^(

WOW! Amazing. Thanks for the kick in the butt. I'm determined to get all my fabric organized today so I can get on to the next step in getting the storage room cleared out so I can make it back into a bedroom for our grandson so I can start working on making my furniture again. I have loads of new cabinet doors I got at a garage sale last year that I've been waning to make into things. Your furniture is making me want to drop everything and get busy! I love working with furniture.

Did you build the cabinets from scratch?
