:) We have aluminum siding on our home & don't want to replace it, just have it painted w/ new trim & gutters. I heard of a plastic type coating for siding but, I don't know if anyone has opinions or warnings. I live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

The lower the sheen (gloss) the better it looks. Even in the lowest 'matte' sheen, the high quality paints stay clean looking.
