How to remove paint from clothing

I got paint on my jeans and I need to find a solution to remove it.

I'm sure it depends on what type of paint but I have used acetone or regular acetone nail polish remover for latex and water based paints, but it also might depend on how long it has been on them and if they have been washed and dried, it worked for me but I did it right away so I'm not sure if that made a difference or not? Good Luck =)
