are we talking "locker room" smells or "bathroom" smells?....I've found a bit of natural citrus air fresheners ( non aerosol types) to be very effective for both.

There was an earlier post this week suggesting: vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda.
  • I like to clean with white vinegar with a few drops of peppermint oil.

Locker room smells or urine smells? Regular bathroom cleaning and the suggestions above will get rid of it and shutting the lid on the toilet will reduce it. But if it is a constant smell you need to check the wax ring and make sure it doesn't need replaced. Because just a tiny little bit of leaking will make the whole room reek of urine. And you don't want it to saturate the floor or sub- flooring. Cleaning bathrooms especially toilets you need to leave the cleanser in the toilet for at least 4 minutes to totally disaffect the toilet, then scrub rinse your brush off with the water in the toilet then spray the whole toilet down. Including the brush and set the brush under the lid so it will dry and wait a few minutes so the cleaner has time to work and disaffect. Wipe down with clean water and dry everything including the bottom and rim of the toilet. Turn the fan on in the bathroom also cuts back on smells a nice reminder might help... We went to Yellowstone they had restrooms everywhere. They had a note in each restroom to please close the lid on the toilet. Not one of those restrooms smelled. This might help. I have a professional cleaning business and have very seldom had problems with this unless the was leakage some place....or unless they are like my kids and I never see their restrooms until company is coming. : )

I use a spray bottle with 16 oz. peroxide, 1 t. dish soap, 1T. baking soda, shake well. The baking soda may leave a slight white film that wipes off. I use it on carpet too to clean up pets stains.

Maybe they should be the ones cleaning up their own urine messes. I had a friend who made this rule and the boys started sitting down to pee.

I clean the sink, tub and toilet with Barkeepers Soft scrub. Excellent results. I wash the floor with PineSol Blue and even put some in the toilet bowl, sink and tub drains. Smells great. Best of luck.
