With a little love and a lot of work you have created a beautiful setting. -
Wow, Mary. It looks great! -
It looks great-what do you have growing on your arbor? -
Hi Dee ~ across the top and right side of the arbor is an autumn blooming (sometimes too vigorous) clematis. Here is another picture of it in full bloom! -
-
Thanks so much for the sweet comments! They are very much appreciated. : ) -
@Mary-your clematis is stunning!! Thank-you for the identification. -
Mary M, I also love your hostas. Florida is not kind to hostas but my three little plants seem to be doing well in shade. Time will tell. -
Thanks, Dee and you're welcome for the identification. -
Sherrie ~ the hostas were in the back of the house when I moved in and I divided them up and they took off with a passion! They like the shade up front but I'm worried - my front tree seems to be slowly dying and I'm not sure how much longer I'll have it : ( -
Mary you did an amazing job! And your Clematis is to die for! Do you feed it? -
Mary M, I just killed a queen palm & decided to hire an arborist to look at another palm to be sure I don't lose it. If you really like the tree it is well worth the cost which was inexpensive. -
Marg C ~ thanks so much ~ I actually have never fed the clematis but I have noticed that when I prune it back substantially in the spring by fall it is HUGE again and is covered with blooms. -
Sherrie S ~ thanks for the advice regarding the tree. I think I am going to have to call someone ~ it's almost 40 years old and it was one of the reasons I fell in love with the house...it gave it such character. : ) -
Wow this is an amazing transformation...What kind of tree is in the front yard? -
Mary...are you saying that after the Spring bloom you cut it way back and it blooms again in the Fall? -
Marg C ~ I don't cut it all the way back ~ the picture of the before and after, that is how far back I cut it. The before for the clematis would be the fall picture of the clematis (I hope that makes sense) ~ I cut it back to about three-fourths of what is is. In the fall, just before blooming, it totally covers the arbor. -
Sharron W ~ It is a maple tree in the front yard. Not sure what kind of maple, though. -
Hmmmm well was hoping I could be helpful, but my knowledge of maples is limited to my japanese maple AND the only other thing I know is that they tend to have their roots shallow and it's easy to damage them with like the lawn mower and such....Might really be good to get an arborist before the damage gets worse... -
yes it makes perfect sense :) I have to try that! -
Sharron W ~ thanks so much for the advice. ; ) -
Mary Beth your yard is gorgeous. -
I love a good before and after. Your yard looks so abundant... beautiful! -
Thank you, Cheri and Donna! : ) -
So pretty ~ Love the arbor :) -
I love how it turned out! It looks so beautiful. :)
