Could be asparagus fern which is a weed and spreads very readily by seeds eaten by birds and pooped out. If you did not plant it, that would be my guess. You can Google Asparagus Fern and check the photos and info there. This weed grows to around 1m in height, which is three feet in the old money, give or take a bit.

Cut one of them below the ground then watch if it comes back up with a head on it like in the picture below. If so, I would believe it's asparagus.

Asparagus is very challenging to grow in Florida. It may be bamboo muhly grass, Muhlenbergia dumosa.

I'm confused. The bloom is gorgeous and definitely looks like a lily but the plant itself looks like Hosta.

It's definitely an asparagus plant that has been allowed to go to seed.

It is definitely asparagus. After picking the crop, you let it grow til next spring. It probably blew in on the wind. If you cut it down, you can eat the stalk when it re-grows. pk

Looks like either asparagus or asparagus fern. If asparagus it will go golden yellow color as it goes dormant (oops.....you live in Florida? don't know how well asparagus would grow there). In spring it comes up with the spears that you see in the grocery store. This looks like a male plant as I don't see any of the small round fruit that goes red colored as it ripens (and can be spread by birds). Some varieties are purplish colored when they first come up in the spring and others are green.

I planted asparagus this year. It looks like asparagus. I just saw some this weekend that was 5 feet tall. I have planted mine in the wrong place. Plenty of sun but it's going to be too tall. How does asparagus respond to transplanting?
    • Douglas Hunt Douglas Hunt on Oct 07, 2014
@Barbara Flynn You can do it, and I would do it now, as it will only get more challenging if you wait another season and the plants get bigger and more established.
