Old House Modern Fireplace Makeover

Easy
On our 114 year old house I've been creating a home office where I can ready, blog, and do grad school homework. This is the before and after of the fireplace makeover. Who has a fireplace in their office?!
Here is how the fireplace started when we moved in. My plan was to remove the old gas insert, clean and paint the brick, paint the accent wall above the mantel and add some accessories.
Painting over brick was not an easy decision, but ultimately I love the look. First I cleaned it well, primed and painted it in white.
This unique found art I discovered at a salvage shop is one of my favorite finds. It's from an old hotel that was taken down. We made a frame for it, and it fits perfectly above the mantel.
I change out the accessories in the firebox and on the mantel. Now I look forward to decorating it for the holidays.
