I'm going to be moving and want to up date the kitchen's appearance. Don't want it to be outddated the minute I finish. I know white will always stand the test of time, but I wanted a little more pizazz.

Stainless steel really has ageless beauty.
  • We agree with Lori, Stainless Steel won't be going anywhere any time soon! It all depends on the look of your kitchen and they style of the appliances you choose...but it would be very hard to go wrong with Stainless. White does not have a very high perceived value, even when it is a high end appliances.
  • If you plan to resell the home later down the road, buyers will expect stainless steel appliances and granite countertops hands down. White appliances are okay and if that is your preferred choice then we suggest to definately go with granite countertops to give the kitchen an updated and modern look. Keep your hardware silver or brushed silver - GOLD is out and will set your kitchen style back into the 1980's with white appliances especially- eek! When the kitchen is completed we would love to see the pics!

We hope to stay in the home for as long as possible, being in our 60's. It appears Stainless is in the top at the moment...There is a white dishwasher. What is your experience with the "liquid stainless"?

Just do whatever appeals to you or if you're selling, let the new owners pick what they want (you can budget the cost in with closing costs). I don't like stainless so I'd prefer white. I'm late 60's so maybe it's just my age bracket? White just always looks so clean and stainless looks like it'd take way too much work to keep it looking good and I'm not a fan of the "industrial" look anyway. What one person loves, another might hate so that's the route I'd take.
