DIY $30 Mini Concrete Planters

We're noticing more uses for concrete in the garden lately. We set out to incorporate it in a way that is stylish and affordable.
After following the mixing directions that came with the bag of concrete, start shoveling generous amounts of concrete into plastic molds (we used old take-out containers). With a little elbow grease, shimmy a smaller container into the concrete, leaving at least a half-inch of mix in place beneath the smaller container to form a base.
Let the molds dry in a sunny spot for 24-48 hours. Did you know concrete gets stronger over time?
The finished product. You can sand the edges to get a smoother feel and be sure to use a drill and masonry bit if you'd like drainage holes at the bottom.

I love the use of concrete. I think it would be great to landscape with the shrubs you want, then move out in front of them and make concrete pots to put into the ground and plant the spring plants in them. That way, you could just sprayaround everything and not so much worry about weeds! Ha! Use them over and over each year...changing out the dirt and/or treating the soil.
