Has this been "splashed" or doused with water recently?... Do you still have the manual?....there may be some trouble shooting tips in there. You could also unplug it for bit to see if there is a "reset" of sorts.

Thanks KMS. I do have the manual. This stove came with the house when we bought it a year ago. I think it is only like maybe 3 years old and frankly not used much. The manual is pretty flimsy and I wrote down model numbers and went on line to whirpool. The funny thing my exact question was asked on there in Sept 2011. No answer, in fact there are no answers to the questions that have been asked. Then when I try to just do trouble shooting on line. Theywant to charge you for somebody to maybe answer your question or not.
  • Can you provide the exact error wording and model number for the stove?

GFE461LVS. This feature is not available. Only comes up on oven . The eyes work.
  • Betty to determine this you need to get to the diagnostics code. Here is a link that provides those directions. http://media.fotki.com/1_p,stgrbgfdbrrgqrdxgtqsskgwtqkq,vi/tggqsgfqxbqdswfffsxrbdsdwttq/1/1303472/5961857/image1703665873604979096img-or.jpg I copied the response from another web site. The "Feature not available" error message indicates that the electronic oven control board detects a problem with that mode. To determine the specific problem, you will need enter the diagnostic test mode and look at the stored fault code. The procedure for entering the diagnostic test mode is shown in the image below. (see link above) Once you determine the error code, you can use the chart to see the specific problem that is indicated. This should help you determine the cause of your failure. You may be able to conduct the troubleshooting that is recommended for the specific fault code that is being signaled. Be sure that you unplug the range to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components in the range. NOTE: This information is intended for technicians. Do not perform any procedure unless you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely execute it.

Thanks Woodbridge I was able to do the diagnostics and I got EO equals internal board failure and then E2 WD sensor open or shorted. So, I thought I would call whirlpool and find out how much and internal board costs and then I guess go from there. We have only lived in house one year and the previous owners 2-3 years. So, don't really know history if better to just cut losses and replace.

Betty...with new ranges running 800 to a grand the new parts may be your better option...This is one of those technology catch 22 items...the more High tech...the more complex. Our heating system at our cabin is 100 times simpler than the forced air furnace at our home...it is just a metal box that your burn logs in....LOL. BTW we cook on it sometimes as well...so it is like two appliances in one.
