Tired of leaking grout, and old discolored cracked tile around your tub? Easily install a beautiful waterproof composite tub surround in one day! With a vast selection of colors, and textures like stone tile, gloss, subway tile, and matte, you easily waterproof and beautify your tub. Tub surround kits are available from DIY Showers...see link below.
Remove tile and drywall around tub
Remove the old tile and drywall surrounding your tub. Remove all material (drywall, backer board, and tile) down to the studs. If you are interesting in replacing or repairing the pluming or hardware, now would be a great time to do that!
Install 1/2 inch sheet rock
Install standard 1/2 inch sheet rock around your tub. There is no need for waterproof sheet rock or green board, as tub surround wall panels are completely waterproof, and will be installed over the drywall.
Drill and cut panels with woodworking tools
Trimming the wall panels, cutting holes for caddies, or drilling holes for shower heads or faucets can be done with standard woodworking tools.
Install wall panels
Attach wall panels to the drywall with 100% adhesive silicone. Start with the back panel, and then install the side panels.
Install caddies and other accessories
If you have any accessories such as recessed caddies, they can be installed at this point.
Seal all seams with colormatch silicone provided with your tub surround panels

Enjoy your beautiful new, easy to clean, waterproof tub surround!

I would like to use a waterproof tub shower surround. My main problem is that I have a window that is below what would be the top of the surround. Have gotten conflicting advise about the installation. Some say the surround is not stable enough to cut out the space for the window. Others say, "...well maybe..." it would work. Do you have an opinion if it would work, ie cutting some of the surround to fit the window cutout?

    Looking forward to your response.
