DIY Outdoor Tiki Hut using Repurposed Materials

Last summer, my husband built a little tiki hut beside our pool. He used bamboo pieces that were originally for some type of trellis. For the smaller pieces in the ceiling, he cut fresh bamboo from the side of the road. We purchased the thatch from Home Depot. Long bolts were used to secure it. Wow, I am impressed since I know how expensive the Tiki Huts are. What a beautiful job. I'm also very surprised that HD had the thatch. Thank you for the posting.

I have friends who actually made a straw/bamboo/tiki umbrella! Their whole yard is tiki and I just am addicted to the tiki's. Great job!

Layla, an umbrella is next on our list! Our umbrella was damaged by high winds and I've put off buying a new one because we have thatch left over from the tiki hut and I want him to rebuild it using bamboo and thatch!
