Yes, you can dye it. I have dyed shoes with leather dye available at the craft store. However, it comes in really small bottles and is rather expensive. It may work just as well to paint it. I spray painted my velvet chairs with Rustoleum automotive upholstery paint, it is also good for vinyl and would probably work well on leather. Good luck with your project, it's a really neat couch!

I purchased leather paint on line.works really well if the surface is smooth.Comes in multiple colors,easy to apply.Cool couch!

There are allot of leather dye kits that come up when you Google Leather dye for furniture. Like Jessica, I too have dyed leather shoes so it is doable.

I found the best leather sofa ever at an estate sale - it was a pale yellow - awful..but I got it for $100 so I figured I'd give it a shot. I actually painted it with metallic acrylic paint. I get lots of compliments and it's been 4 years and still looks great. Never say never till you give it a shot.

What a co-incidence. Within the past month, I bought a leather love seat that needed color repair. Due to the location of the area in need of re-dying, I presume the leather's finish was dissolved by repeated contact with some sort of hair product. The leather itself did not appear to actually be damaged. I was skeptical about buying it, but the lady, from whom I bought it (a local business owner), assured me that we could easily re-dye it. She told me that her friend had very successfully re-dyed a whole sofa and other pieces. Now, I believe her! I proceeded to do a lot of research and watched several instructional videos online; then found a company called Leather World, located in Roanoke, VA. We ordered a re-dye kit from them and the results are great! Now, you can not tell where the color had been removed and re-dyed. I spoke on the phone, a couple of times, with a very friendly, helpful and patient company technician (Sean, I believe) at Leather World. I called them because the instructions sounded too easy. I was unsure of whether I had misunderstood the product's seemingly very simple instructions or feared they didn't tell the whole story. The product's directions were right-on; the support the technician provided was right-on; and the end result is great! Your unique sofa, with it's intricate design, will probably be a lot of tedious work and require some time and patience, but should be well worth the effort. I tried the flat acrylic paint and it doesn't work - gets hard and brittle when it dries, but the metallic works like a charm.

Tandy Leather Supply sells larger bottles of leather dye. I work at a kids camp and they use it for leather craft. Comes in multiple colors and seems to work well. I've never tried it on a couch though. Good luck!

I just painted my grandmother's leather chair with Annie Sloan paint mixed with a small amount of water. Then I waxed it using Annie Sloan wax. It looks awesome!

I dyed a leather horse collar witha black leather dye. The dye came in a dispenser similar to a liquid shoe polish container. I clean the leather with a leather cleaner and applied the dye three times for complete coverage. I buffed the polish after it dried for a shiny finish. I had a glass cutter cut a plate glass mirror to fit and a florist added silk flowers. It turned out very well. You will need a bigger brush to do a sofa, but it will be worth the work. Enjoy!

check out rubnrestore leather dye. I ordered samples of vinyl and leather treated with this dye, and they look amazing...and after our little dog stole one of the samples and chewed on it, I was able to get it out of his mouth, and not one scratch on it from the chewing! It appears to be really durable, looks natural (not plasticky). That sofa you're considering is beautiful! If the price is right, I'd say go for it. For maybe $50-$100 you can make it just like new, and you can use any color. lots of vids on youtube on this and similar products. It looks very easy.

I think the brand was Folk Art. I tried this on other leather and only the metallic paint will work - the other paint type dried out the leather and made it stiff. The sofa I painted turned out fabulous, it is in our office lobby and we use it everyday and have since I painted it. I get tons of compliments. I'll try to add a photo and see if it shows up enough to tell anything.
