How do you get rid of old equipment left on your property when the company is no longre in existence?

I've got a receiver high up in a tree in my backyard. The cable runs down the tree and into the group. I'm pretty sure it is old equipment from when BellSouth stuck their toe into the digital cable/satellite TV business. The cable sticks out from the tree and I'm afraid one of my dogs is going to get hung up on it one day. My backyard is wooded and they tear through the trees like a bat out of you-know-where.

Anyway, does anyone have any idea who I would call to have this removed from my tree? BellSouth is no more. AT&T took them over and I don't think they put anything in trees anymore. Also, AT&T does not offer TV services in my area. Any ideas?

I think you need to call an electrician to unhook it. They will probably charge you for the service, but I don't think you will get a response from anyone else. We had a line go down across the parking lot. We called JEMC because we didn't know what the line was. They came out and said it wasn't carrying current and to either cut it ourselves or leave it laying there. You could use the receiver for a cool looking sedum pot if you get it down. Or try to recycle it on Craigs list?

If its just an abandoned dish with wires you can call any handy person who with a ladder can climb up and remove it for you.

Your other option is to contact your township about who really owns this and they may be able to assist you in the removal.

installer left the old dish next to the new one. When I asked him why it was left, he said they no longer want the older dishes so it was mine to keep. If I wanted it removed I had to pay extra to have it done.

So until I finish my siding on the house. I have two dishes sitting there.

Unfortunately, I don't think most handymen will have a ladder tall enough to get to this thing. It is like at the tip top of a pine tree. I don't know how they got it up there. My yard is wooded and it is located in one of the trees towards the back of my yard. Maybe they climbed the tree with those spikes strapped to their boots or something.

    concern.

Thanks guys. Guess I'll just start making some calls and see where it gets me.
