Crystal! What to do with it?

Question

I do not have anything at home on display, but I got tons of crystal from my Grandma and Grandfather and i'm not sure what to do with it, my home isn't themed for such. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't think it's worth much, but I'd hate to give it away.

Creative gals are using colored and clear glass plates, bowls, cups, vases and stacking them up in a pretty design to make 'totems' or 'flowers' for their flower beds, google it or search on hometalk or pinterest. Use GE Silicone II glue, its weatherproof. I've seen amber and clear, cobalt blue, green and clear, all mixtures. Use thrift store colored glass if yours is clear. Cup n saucer holding a candle is sweet in a guest room or powder room, soaps in a berry bowl or on a salad plate. Use them around your house as memory decorative items. Decoupage a colorful pretty napkin faving toward the plate to show from the back of a plate or platter and hang one or three vertically by size in your kit or din rm.

Don't be so sure it isn't worth that much. Do your homework online and pattern match. You might be quite surprised.Otherwise, if you have a yard sale, I want to attend lol.

Using crystal in unexpected ways is always fun. Decanters are a wonderful thing to use for everything from mouthwash, dish soap, even adding colored h2o in a grouping is nice. Small to medium sized bowls are great for dresser tops bathroom items, potpourri or floating fresh flowers. Sprinkling these things into unexpected places and giving them purpose is a great way display them while giving your decor a well traveled feel. Would love to see photos.

Oh @Amber, you have some beautiful treasures here. I'll ask my sister in law if she knows of any place in Des Moines, (I met and married my hubby there) where you can find out the value of these.
I personally think the greatest treasure, though maybe not in monetary value, is the photos of your great, great, great aunt. Those are charming. What beautiful child she was.

If they matter to you, then you find a way, I have 2 china cabinets one for family treasures and one for antiques I have collected. I move things around and even hide pieces in them because in truth, the pieces are not being displayed as art but rather are memories of people I have loved and lost. I have a tiny shelf in my kitchen with a child's tea set. It is charming and very small. Most people don't notice it. But it reminds me of my daughters when they were small. Treasures are just that. You can have display cases created as well for more special items. Frame shops locally should be able to direct you to someone that makes shadow boxes and hanging display cases. Your things are lovely and should be cherished.
