Rustic Fall Mantel

Decorating for Fall was inspired by the outdoors. My starting point was the pillows in soft cream with rust, light blue, olive and gold.
For me, decorating a mantel is all about layers. I started with an old piece of wainscoting in an olive distressed tone. I then flanked this piece with vintage picture frames.
Cotton boll pieces were hung within one of the vintage frames. I really liked the texture and the appearance that they were floating within.
An old windmill was used to add a rustic element to the vignette. The tips of the blades were rusted with touches of red.
Candles were added because I love candles. These are chunky and full of texture. Faux flowers were added to continue the rustic color scheme.
Add to add an element of the unexpected, I used old chicken incubator trays within the white space of the fireplace. Rustic and unique! Please stop over to the blog to see more details! I would love to hear what you think!
