Kitchen Island from old cupboard & pallet top

I am in need of a kitchen island. I began thinking of just having a pallet table made to use as a kitchen island, but my thoughts have changed, I'm wanting storage of sorts underneath this kitchen island. I have the pallet table made, I've brought the dresser to do up (see photos) - now I want to combine them both. I was thinking of removing legs from table & sitting the pallet top on the dresser, however it is uneven and wanted to ask what would be the best option to do this? any suggestions? I haven't done anything to the items, the dresser I want to make shabby chic/French design, and the pallet top has to be sanded & varnished. I also hope to have this used as a seating spot with kitchen stools on the other side of the dresser. Thank you

I'll need some measurements, but it looks as though the baby changing chest of drawers is not as deep as the table is. If so and the chest of drawers can slip between the legs of the table, you might get all you want.

It's more the height, I need to use the pallet table bench top, as a bench top, and the 2 different heights on this cupboard is where I'm trying to work out what to do. the difference between the height of the drawer side of the cupboard, and the glass door side is 14cm. I was thinking of building a frame on this section, so that I could use as an open shelf underneath the pallet bench top. The width of the bench top & this cupboard is fine, as I want to put stools on the other side, that way the stools will sit under the bench top. Sorry if my explanation isn't helping//

@Sonya, that makes sense what you want to do. How about building an open box to fill the 14cm space to level out the top over the drawer? Then you might just attach the pallet top to the drawer/cabinet combo.

If the problem is the empty space between the top of the dresser and the top of the table, you could add a wooden border around the table under the top attaching a skirted strip of fabric onto it the length to cover the empty space. The easiest thing would be to attach it using a heavy duty staple gun. The electric kind work best.

One thing you can do is build a frame as near the bottom of the table to fit attaching the dresser to the frame. As for that difference in height at the top, the side with the drawers can serve as a shelf for some trays to hold utensils. All you would have to do is put a small piece of wood on the back side to act as a "stop" for the trays. While you are working on this, you might want to put in some dividers in the drawers that will make them like separate smaller drawers. Casters on the bottom would make it more serviceable.

Can build on the back of the table,so you can add the dresses drawers.so you can have your island with more space, and when done add two stools

You could cut off the top on the vertical cabinet, remove horizontal shelves, add a single vertcal shelf for cookie sheets, etc, if possible the two small drawers on the dresser could be made into one large drawer for pots and pans.

Another quick question, I've painted the underneath cabinet a pale blue (shabby chic style) - just tossing up whether to stain the pallet bench top - should I do a darker stain to counteract the light blue cabinet, or leave it light & just varnish the pallet top - what are your ideas?
