Need to shim chandelier glass shades

The great quality chandeliers I bought appear to be seconds, and the glass shades are really crooked and uneven. How w can I shim them effectively without causing a fire?

A picture would definitely help. I am thinking if you brought home some metal washers that might help.try to send us a picture!

Agreed, it would be useful to see exactly what the problem is here. If washers are the answer then wedge shaped ones might do the job straightening the shades out.
