Barn Wood Dining Table (in Progress)

Here's what we have on going.. Some may say it appears finished. We still have some tweaks here and there. Plus, I need to seal it. Feedback would be appreciated. Simply, this was a table we had that I replaced the top with new 2x12 boards and distressed to appear old. By no means are we experts, but with research and help from sites like this, I think we are managing. Two upholstered chairs will be added eventually.

Hi! :) My advice would be to seal it with either General Finishes' Top Coat in Satin, or to us a wipe on poly, Minwax's is great. :)

We were advised to try the Acrylic Poly and it did not give us the look we wanted to achieve (Plastic). Therefore, we have been re-sanding and tweaking. Initially, we thought the wipe on poly would give it a tone that we might not like. We are using the Minwax wipe on poly next. Hope that works. Thanks.

I would NOT wax it, as you need to be able to clean it and wax does not do well in extreme conditions. It can melt when hot things are placed on it, and it will get sticky after awhile of constant use. Most "high traffic" pieces that are waxed will need to be rewaxed every 6-12 months
