Hi!

We have a strange 80's bathroom mirror that we want to update with molding. Apologies for the poor picture, but basically there is a large, flat mirror with corner mirrors on either side. The corner mirrors open up for storage (the pic shows the left corner mirror and part of the large, flat mirror). The molding on top is just plopped there as we're trying to figure out what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

It looks like you might have a clearance issue with the moldings along this vertical edge. (The left side of this moving panel) it is possible to install a beveled piece along the top that could accommodate the angle and not bind..but it would lack the "picture frame" appeal that most of these border install strive for.. How "married" are you to this thing...its a pretty big monster. Perhaps down sizing the main mirror and framing that?

I'm definitely happy to divorce it! My only issue was removing the side pieces and spackling the walls but I think in the end that's a small price to pay to make bring it into the 21st century. Thank you for your time and advice!!

Getting rid of something that was popular in the same time frame as disco music is a plus in any one home.

i think getting rid of the mirror and then spackling/repairing the wall is worth it... if you have a double sink vanity, what about hanging two framed mirrors over each sink with a vanity light over each?? like this:

I'm with KMS Especially the disco music part.
  • Before you get rid of this, please let me know what the manufacturer is. I have been asked twice in the last six years to custom build one almost exactly like you show because nobody could find a way to buy it

The manufacture is Miami Carey. Not sure if they're still around, but that's the name on the piece.

Those pieces were most popular because you could see the back of your head and see if you need a trim or not or just how good you looked in that new black shift. @Traci, that's a nice look,... yours?
