I started thinking about remedies for carpenter bees and wondered if i could spray my fences and porch down in citronella oil? I mean after all products that seal your fence usually ...»
contain a oil base.I read where carpenter bees do not like the smell and wouldnt it help repel mosquitos also?Whats your thoughts?Would this cause the wood to become rotten?

Gardening: Any fragrant plant suggestions for back porch area?

I need some perinneal plants/flowers that will do good with little light on a porch.I want the area to smell good since its a sitting area and any plants that repel mosquitos would be ...»
great as well.Ive planted some chocolate mint already in this area.These plants would be in pots.The area of my porch is also near where the dogs go out so i don't want to have anything posinous to animals.Any suggestions?

    where i put it.I have hostas but didnt know there are species with fragrance that would be excellent since they do good in shade.

    could just keep the beetles off them and the heat has been horrible for them they wilt alot during the day.
