Decorating the house for fall

Celebrating the arrival of Autumn this weekend by putting out fresh fall decor! I'm so excited for this season as it's my favorite time of the year. I'm decorating on the mantel with ...»
pumpkins, turkey feathers and bundles of wheat. Out on the back porch are assorted heirloom pumpkins, Indian corn, mums and labrador retrievers. :)

Found During Demo Part 2

We had so much fun with our original "Found During Demo" post that I had to ask if anyone can guess what these are? Found in a demo of a 1939 bathroom.

Living room

This is my country-coastal style living room that we renovated last year. Since this is our first home we really are on a shoestring budget and all our renovations are DIY. This room was ...»
one of the biggest selling points for us when we first viewed the house as it's bay window and vertically joined claddling lends itself perfectly to our country coastal style of decorating.

Our crisp, white slipcovered couch is one of the few new items of furniture in the room with the rest being thrifted and upcycled, usually with a coat of beachy white paint. I also love to decorate with stone and white, soft blues and aquas, stripes, polka dots and a whole lot of white.

As you can see the living room was extremely brown when we moved in. Firstly we painted the walls in Dulux Fair Bianca half strength, changed out the curtains, pulled up the carpet and retiled the floor.

Gardening: What are they and what to do with them?

Hi! We have a dozen of these ? , each is at least 8' tall and growing. When we moved in last year, we asked the neighbors what they were and got several different answers. (Previous ...»
owners also didn't know) The only flower (see picture) appears (I think) in the Spring and that's it. We would like to keep them under control. Any assistance, greatly appreciated.

Gardening: Trail of dead grass mystery?

Trail of dead grass appeared two weeks ago that starts in neighbor's yard and goes to the sidewalk, then continues past the sidewalk in a line into the grass into my yard all the way to ...»
street. I noticed the neighbors across the street have the same tail of dead grass. Never happened in 12 years I've lived here. Anyone have ideas on what is causing this?

We need to paint our 3 story beach home. Now it is white on white. Roof is dark charcoal color.

Our 2 neighbors are peach and rust. They both have terra~cotta tile roofs.

Any suggestions??

Sherwin Williams Coastal colors sounds like a good place to start but do not go too dark. You ...»
need a lighter color due to fading and yes, every paint will fade! Try blue/greens that look watery with linen colored trim. Always good choices for the beach and not too "out-there" for buyers.
