I have good wood cabinets that are stained pickle, I want to go dark and not too keen on sanding all cabinets then staining so was thinking about just doing that for the inside and buying new doors for the outside so they would match

So are you asking if you should paint your cabinets or replace them?

I had the same problem. Good cabinets but hated the color. I bought Rustoleum Cabinet kit from Home Depot. It worked great! It's been two years and no chipping at all. Here's a pic of the product. It comes in different colors. Good luck!

I think in this case a picture of your cabinets would really help. Then people could judge whether they think painting is the best solution or just replacing all together. You can add a photo of your cabinets to your post by clicking the upper drop arrow and selecting "Edit." then click the blue Photo button to add your picture!

A few years ago, I removed the awful dark brown wood product doors from our cabinets, primed and painted the cabinet frames the same color as the walls, and installed new cabinet doors I ordered online. It worked great; I just reused the old hinges.
