Easy Faux Shibori Curtains

Have you seen the hot new craft trend called Shibori? Shibori is a Japanese tie dye technique but it is more of an art form. Intricate folds, twists and knots create beautiful dyed fabric patterns. The technique typically uses an indigo dye which create gorgeous deep blue resist patterns.
I came up with a way to achieve a similar look with craft paint.
I started with my existing white bathroom curtains. Using a small paint brush I painted a grid of lines with black craft paint.I then dabbed the vertical lines with a sponge brush soaked with water.
The goal was to get the craft paint to bleed out into a leaf shape.
Once I was done, I left the panel on the patio table to dry completely. When the paint is thoroughly dry, use a rag to cover the panel and iron.
And there you have it. A quick and easy faux Shibori effect.
