Roadside Rescue Mod Desk Makeover

I have been hanging onto this desk for quite some time. It sat in my garage for almost 2 years. It was a rescue, but I wasn't sure HOW I could save it. Well I finally found the energy to give it its makeover. It took a lot of work but its done!

Good Morning my Beauties.

Here is a makeover I did this summer.

I debated whether or not to post because

I had such a difficult time photographing it.

But I decided the pictures would have to do

just so I could let you see what this roadside rescue used to look like.
This is the BEFORE!

I had picked this up over a year ago.

It sat in my garage because I didn't know WHAT I wanted to do with it.

To be honest it was one of the first free pieces that I was

overwhelmed by.
The top was the reason.

It was in really bad shape.

It had layers upon layers of OIL based paint.

Mold dirt and just plain old grossness.
The base was in rough shape too...

so it sat while I waited not only for inspiration,

but fortitude to put my mind to

finally tackling it.
The first step was taking care of the top.

I used stripper to get the layers off..

MULTIPLE LAYERS!

Even the stripper couldn't get through the years of paint.

It was time to pull out the big guns..
The belt sander was the only way I was getting through the amount of years of paint on this desk.
Once the top was sanded and re sanded then tack clothed

I was able to stain the top.

I was loving it.

The next part was easy.

I used some navy paint

on the base and spray painted the knobs gold.
Like I said before.

The navy and the lack of sun made it difficult to photograph.

But I still wanted you to see it.
