Fall is the Time! Aerate and Reseed for a Beautiful Lawn

How does a 56 year old grandmother aerate and reseed for a beautiful lawn all by herself?

Well, I am gonna tell you! With a Mantis XP that’s how! Just look at these tines! Aren't they awesome?

I have owned one for over ten years and use it all the time.

Like for Digging my Landscape and Planting a Backyard Garden.

In fact, I don’t know what DIY home owners do without this tiller.

Before Mantis, I could not even dig a hole to plant flowers.

I had to wait until my husband had time to do it.

With my Mantis, I can dig to my hearts content…

I can edge my sidewalk and natural areas…

I can till my garden…

and I can aerate and reseed my entire yard…

ALL BY MYSELF!

Fall is the very best time to reseed. It stays pretty warm here in TN up until October. I always wait for a good soaking rain before I aerate. In my experience, it does no good to do this in the spring. The grass will come up beautifully and then it will fry during the summer months. So, depending on your climate, aerating and reseeding could be done anywhere from late August to November.

Learn how to aerate a lawn by hand.

Here is an area that had no grass. You can really see the slices here.

There are a lot of technical reasons for aerating, but to me it just makes common sense.

I mean you wouldn’t really expect your garden to grow if you just went out and threw some seeds on top of the ground right?

So if you are still wondering why I am aerating and reseeding?

There are several reasons:

I love the look of new grass coming up in the spring. It is just so pretty.

It is the best way to get rid of weeds.

By doing it myself, I save hundreds of dollars.

It;s good exercise…

and it gives me a reason to use my Mantis!
