Silverleaf Gourds by Somewhat Quirky Design

Dried gourds are beautiful in their shape and simplicity, and they make the perfect decoration for fall. In the past I have just used them in their natural state or stained them.
This year I wanted a lighter look, but not paint. Silver leaf is the perfect solution.
I silver leafed these (with a few copper accents) and I love how they turned out. I used a pre-made kit but the supplies for silver leafing are readily available in craft stores and online. There is a supply list, links for purchasing, and a full tutorial for leafing in my blog post HERE.
It is pretty easy. Rather messy but pretty easy! They are easier to leaf than they are to photograph!
I just arranged them with some dried hydrangeas and voila! a beautiful centerpiece! And they stay beautiful though the years.
