Fix A Squeaky Door

There’s no way to deny that a squeaky door is a major irritation to your general existence. If you’ve been avoiding the fix because you don’t have any WD-40 handy, today is your lucky day! It turns out you can use a variety of household items to lubricate those hinges and silence the squeak.
HOW TO:

1.) Bar soap.

Use bar soap, and rub your hinges until they’re well-lubricated. Note: For this tip, it's best to avoid using a glycerin-based soap. Glycerin attracts moisture from the air, so over time it can cause rust on your metal hardware.

2.) Petroleum jelly.

Using a hammer, tap out the hinge pin from underneath. Liberally coat the hinge pin with petroleum jelly and coax it back into the door hinge. Do this for each hinge pin on the door.

3.) Paraffin candles.

First, disassemble the hinge with a hammer. Melt your candle, and apply the hot wax directly onto the hinge pins. Replace the pins back in the door hinge.

4.) Olive oil.

Use a rag or cotton swab to apply olive oil to the top of any squeaky hinges in your home.
