These are really fun, Barb. You could sell these, I think. Even if you think they are easy, there are still plenty of people who don't want to take the time to make them (although those folks probably aren't here on Hometalk). -
I would love to make one of these, but way out of my know how, cutting and soldering...yikes! But they are so cool! -
Barb, these are great!! You've included such detail; how did you vein the leaves?? -
Thanks everybody! The cutting is with metal shears which are just big heavy-duty scissors. The veins and details were hammered in with different nails and a hammer. A putty knife edge was tapped on to make the straight edges. You can experiment to get different effects. I thought soldering would be hard too, Bernice, but look it up on-line. There are just a few steps and they are not difficult once you get the hang of them. I made all of these in one afternoon. -
These look like fun and will have a nice patina in the future. I'm afraid though in my area with the economy looking so bleak that the copper would be stolen right out of the yard. I would have to keep my creations inside. -
Marg C. I'm betting we'll be seeing a nice copper flower arrangement you've made for your home soon! -
Barb -I followed your link but did not find your copper creations on the website. how did I miss them and were there instructions to do one of the projects? -
Sorry, Jayme! I did not blog about these. I made the copper flowers for my former garden before I started the website. I do plan to make more this spring and document the steps though ~ stay tuned! -
Love it ! I love working with copper and the patina just gets better with age. Must try... -
Thanks, Jenny! I'll be doing another post about these in the late spring too !
