Old Piano remnants made into an art piece above the bed

I recycled some remnants of a very old piano that belonged to a friends grandmother... It had been at rest in his Shed for years and thank goodness he thought of me before it ended up on the burn pile... He said he had been saving it just because it look so neat with all the carved wood but decided he wanted to clean up his shed and was doing some tossing out... When he told me what he had I never imagined how beautiful it would be when he bought it to me... The pieces were covered with so much dust and dirt but I saw right through that and with a little TLC cleaned them up and made it into a shelf above the bed...My Friend now wants his pieces back LOL! I had some metal shelf holders lying around and the piece I used for the shelf fit perfectly I painted it Brown.

It almost looks like it used to be part of an Old Ivers & Pond Mahogany Victorian Upright Piano???

That's beautiful Tania. I saved a few pieces from an old organ that a thrift store was about to toss. They said if I tore it up I could take what I wanted. Less for them to have to pay to haul away. Nothing as pretty as this. I've yet to make anything from any of it yet. Right now we're working on reorganizing things so I'll have my own work space in the garage, it's cooled and heated, because hubby needs the basement woodwork shop for house stuff.

Tania, I dreamed about this project of yours last night. I was trying to make something look like it with out having the piano parts. If I have some scraps around I want to make my dream idea up. I'll share when it's finished.

Yesterday I came across the organ top and it's rather boring. Old organs aren't as pretty as pianos were. This was one was probably only 40 years old, give or take... The other parts were where ...»

the sound controls were. I was going to use it to make some sort of storage thing. It might be awhile, but I'll have other projects to share in the next month or so. We worked on some chairs today. Still not finished since we didn't have enough long clamps. I'm hoping we'll have time to finish the other chair tomorrow so I can get to the next step in the process. I can do most of it on my own, but the gluing and clamping I needed an extra set of hands and hubby's brain to toss my ideas for fixing one of the chair braces. It's solid as a rock now.
