How cute Julie! I have a container very similar that I just have sitting in our foyer. I'm thinking I need to think about growing something in it now that I've seen this. Great idea! How did you line it?
I didn't line it Becky. I figured it would last as long as it lasts, that's why I don't pay much for things. Just drilled holes in the wood and screwed the top open and threw some dirt and impatiens in it. So far, so good...
I've gone that route before and wasn't happy with losing some of my favorite baskets so I'll probably find a way to line mine. Maybe just some heavy duty plastic drop cloth. It sure looks pretty though!
i do this with baskets straw purses not to great of shape and leave them somewere in the garden with plants in them ,friends and other people like that
There are usually a variety of plastic containers at the thrift store for practically nothing...it is good topick up a couple of these from time to time to use as liners! Also, those Glad take aways would be good too because they come in deeper sizes and they are cheap!
I actually have a purse, (two actually) very similar to this...they were my grandmothers, and my mother gave them to me a few years back....mama says they were very well made purses, and very expensive "back in the day"....I like your display....since mine have sentimental value, I can't do this with mine and lose them in the end...but this is very pretty!
i have taken old thin, worn terry cloth towels and lined wicker baskets they allow water to drain out and the also keep the dirt in. and the baskets lasted several years before they finally rotted away. i found a coat os spray paint helped sustain the life cycle of the wicker
& TO ANGELA L. I would almost bet Grandmother would love to see this purse put to good use. Why not enjoy it ?
