The same thing works for removing wax from cloth too. -
So, nothing new about this......... -
. . . . . . and carpeting too!! The only difference is it's better to use a paper bag - which we don't get many of any more. Craft papr or something heavier to absorb the melted wax. Have iron on low, place bag or whatever over wax and press w/iron. Keep moving bag til no more wax shows thru on your bag. -
I removed wax from a rented tux using this method, except I used several layers of tissue paper. I've never needed to remove wax from carpet, but good idea - depending on what kind of carpeting you have, you would have to be careful not to singe it, wouldn't you? -
On coated floor. I have let wax dry and then softly scrap off with a credit card. I've used little vegetable oil on a rag and wiped the rest off. -
@Mary S. That's the reason for heavier paper and also low setting on the iron and you don't leave it sitting on the carpet. You run the iron back & forth over the craft paper, it soaks up the melted wax, then you keep moving the paper & ironing til no more wax comes thru on the bag!! -
@Cathy B - if wax was on a solid surface wouldn't an ice cube run over the wax make it brittle enough to just chip off?? Just askin . . . . -
I have done it with indoor/outdoor carpeting and it works. -
@Susan S , ideally yes but if that doesn't happen, this is what has worked for me, that's all can speak to. -
Would this work on wood laminate too? Thanks. -
@Sweet Pea Studio, yes it would! -
what abt from bricks ?? wax candle dripped to bricks (from fireplace mantle -- leaking and dripping to bricks ,,, i wonder abt that -
@Karen regarding bricks. There is a product used to remove grease stains from driveways called Kleen Sweep, thing is it comes in a big sack I use it for so many stains. Scrap off wax with an old credit card and then leave product overnight. -
How about colored wax? I got up the wax but it was red and stained the wood.
