I would dress it up with some pretty molding just like any fireplace. Paint it any color you want to go with your decor!

The ideas I have would depend on the décor of your room. You could gel stain it the color you like and add carved overlays to the front and sides, or you could paint and add faux rock to the front and sides for a more rustic look. Or add ceramic rock to front and sides after painting the color you want. I love projects like this!

If you are wanting to use it, then I would say go with Nancy Jungnitsch's ideas, but if not then if you have a dog you could gut it and make a nice bed/house for the doggie!!! I am wanting to find pieces like this to make things like that out of myself!!!

    Would michaels have those molds?

I don't know if Michaels would carry them. Wood appliques are available on ebay or check out this site:http://www.vandykes.com

Stephanie, be sure to measure the area where you would like to place the wood applique so you can be sure to order the ones that will fit, also if you want to paint them a different color than the fireplace be sure to paint them before gluing them in place. IKEA also sells wood overlays but they are a much more modern design. Hope this helps.

You can buy wood overlays in any big box store like Lowes.
