Office Swap?

Karen
by Karen
I'm looking for suggestions for our Holiday Office Swap which will be here before you know it! I'd like to try something different, one year I suggested "Made in the USA" but not everyone got on board with that, but most did. It's got to be unisex, top heavy by male engineers from a very prestigious university and a few admin assistants. I am looking for either a theme or a gift to give, because I'm not sure they will be receptive to a theme. Cannot be gift cards and isn't suppose to be used, or funny!-- i have gone with the funny a few years but it definitely wasn't appreciated...they looked curiously around the table and I tried not to look guilty. I am open to a DIY type of gift to give. You thoughts are always appreciated.

There are always baking mixes put together in Mason jars. You can also do cocoa or other drink mixes. Engineers love t-shirts. Why not have a t-shirt exchange, or winter hats?

I like the hat idea but I think it may have been done before I was there...I'll check...the tee shirts, not-so-much, these are very high level engineers, don't get their hands dirty.

Oh the DIY is the way to go- so in, so u can already purchase a DIY locally or if u are a DIYer yourself then go to P or HT to find the latest craze. Gardening is huge-a pretty deco pot filled w/garden tools, birdhouses made of recycled items, garden decor like metal art etc. Inside hm, a bag of small mix seventies candles. Or a holiday inspired gift like a grouping of snowmen decor, Santa, or angels. A basket of ready to bake mixes, oven mitten, apron, etc. Well I can go on and on.

It's hard to please all, doesn't sound like they really 'need' anything if they are high level (they can afford) they don't like funny and not receptive to themes. Perhaps the idea of giving to a local food bank or children's hospital would be the best idea and should please everyone. Gift exchanges can be stressful. Good luck!

You are spot on. They don't need anything (and I don't either). I love the idea of donating to those in need. I'll propose that when the season is upon us. Thank you.

Pass a Christmas stocking around with a note attached to make a donation of any size and present it to a local Veteran who has served our country and maybe just need a hand up. Good luck in your endeavor and happy holidays!
