Looking for new kitchen floor

I am looking to get a new kitchen floor here at my mobile beach house, and was looking to put in 12x12 tile blocks that are cheap, good and easy to clean. Ideas and help please. Thanks.

Do you like the wood look? Pop into Home Depot and look at the Trafficmaster Allure vinyl plank flooring. I seriously love this stuff! I have it in one bathroom and can't wait to replace the laminate in other parts of the house with it. It's very budget friendly--about $1.98 sq/ft. as I recall. Easy for the DIY-er to install--just requires something to measure with and scissors or utility knife to cut it. Since it's vinyl it is soft and quiet to walk on (not cold and hard like tile), very easy to clean (spills and pet accidents wipe right up) so it's great for homes with kids and pets. It would be great in a beach house! In addition to the wood-look planks, I think they also offer a couple tile-look options in the Allure line but I really haven't paid much attention to those since I personally prefer the wood-look. I've included a couple photos of it in my bathroom.

I agree with Shari. Allure is incredible. Have it in 3 rooms of the house now. Fairly easy to put down - take your time sliding it into place - waterproof! Great for dogs pets too. Comes in tile look now as well as wood look.

You're welcome..and thanks! I love my bathroom too. ;) You should have seen it before the re-do--Yuck! I've only seen the TrafficMaster Allure at Home Depot. They also sell the Allure "Ultra" which is the "waterproof" (pricier) version. The regular Allure is "water resistant" but it has worked fine in my bathroom so it should be fine in your kitchen, as well. The primary thing you have to be aware of during a DIY installation is to keep the sticky edges free of dust, dirt and debris so there is good adhesion at the seams and when you are all done, they recommend rolling the seams to make sure each plank is adhered well to the adjoining planks. Also your sub-floor needs to be as smooth (and debris-free) as possible. Otherwise, the vinyl can show any lumps and bumps underneath.

Lowe's also carries the wood look tiles, even some that look like reclaimed barnwood.
