Use burlap to reline planters!

For only twenty dollars, I bought a whole bolt of burlap and relined my hayrack planters. New pre-formed liners would have cost over eighty dollars! I lined with newspaper, added soil and plants and mulched with the old cocoa fiber liners - so nothing was wasted.Plus , I still have lots of burlap for other projects! http://ourfairfieldhomeandgarden.com or http://pinterest.com/barbrosen/our-fairfield...

good to know.....just bought hanging baskets that require the cocoa liners. Also just read in This Old House mag to use left over screen in the bottom of pots. We have plenty of that!

Thanks, Becky! I use coffee filters in the bottoms of my pots. In these hayracks, I also lined 4 or 5 thicknesses of black & white newsprint to help hold moisture since I don't want to water them every five minutes : )

oh my! Good to know! I have small window boxes that are not a traditional shape and can never find liners to fit right. This would be so much easier than trying to cut and fit a cocoa liner. And much less expensive!! thanks!
